Research shows that girls education yields tremendously positive outcomes across multiple domains, including: increased economic growth, reduction of child marriage and domestic violence, healthier mothers and babies, higher education rates for children, improved mental health for girls, reductions in climate change, reductions in terrorism, and increased female leadership in government.
Lidè enables girls to access formal and informal education and learning opportunities, offering over 1,150 primary and secondary school scholarships, tutoring, literacy instruction, computer skills, guidance counseling, vocational scholarships, and a chess program.
2023 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
In 2023, we sustained our scholarship expansion from 2022 and continued to offer 1,150 primary and secondary scholarships while also serving several vocational scholars.
Thanks to a partnership with Chess.com, we also introduced chess into our summer programs and our participants are enthusiastically continuing to play throughout the year.
Our guidance counselor offered monthly workshop sessions to provide career guidance to our older high school graduates who are pursuing vocational education.
Our facilitators were trained in a special curriculum on citizenship and well-being, which teaches girls to take initiative to improve their communities. Ultimately, students will createmini-projects and programs within their own communities, such as cleaning a local street or educating residents about climate change.
We hired a new information technology manager, who has developed our IT curriculum and courses for staff, facilitators, and participants. Thanks to the generous donations of our partners, Lidè participants and staff are advancing their computer literacy and love taking part in these digital learning opportunities.
