Our arts programming is the soul of Lidè’s work and an innovative distinguisher amongst other models of girls and women’s empowerment programming in Haiti and across the Caribbean. At Lidè, girls discover their unique voice through our arts programs, which include creative writing, theater, photography, dance, and visual arts. These programs are designed to support girls to: foster healthy relationships, appreciate diversity, strengthen their ability to resolve conflict, and cultivate flexible thinking, adaptability, innovation, and hope. The arts also enable girls to deepen awareness of their emotions, develop a growth mindset, improve their cognition and communication skills, build their ability to problem-solve, and develop a sense of dignity and confidence in their ability to create a better world.

Lidè partners with local Haitian artists, including photographers, painters, and music and dance educators to diversify the artistic experiences we offer, making our curriculum uniquely relevant and engaging for participants. We also integrate arts-focused celebrations into annual events such as the International Day of the Girl, National Children’s Rights Day, and the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. These events now serve as platforms for participants to express themselves and raise public awareness on critical issues such as health, safety, and rights, educating their community on important issues like cholera prevention, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and the protection of children's rights. This has not only increased community engagement but also positioned our participants as active educators and advocates within their communities.

Our arts education programs are rooted in virtues education, where we design arts activities to teach girls different virtues like confidence, creativity, trustworthiness, and respect. Our arts activities also honor Haitian culture, create a sense of unity that emerges from collective creativity, and strengthen communal bonds.
